HOA Book Review

Outstanding.

This book is a delightfully easy read that covers loads of important information. Derek grew up in the HOA management business so he clearly knows his stuff backwards and forwards, and he delivers on his promise of making things “quick and simple” from the get go.

He’s refreshingly frank about the fact that as a HOA board manager you’re likely doing this job because someone needed to, and the narrative tone and frequent anecdotal stories keep the pacing fast. I really did read it in one sitting, no coffee required!

You’re going to learn some very important things about HOA governance, law, management, do’s and don’ts - just a wealth of information that could really save you endless time and money, particularly if you’ve just joined a HOA board.

For example, did you know there’s a special kind of insurance your HOA should have that protects you individually as a board member from liability? Your general liability plan likely doesn’t cover that, but a special D&O policy will. That’s one of dozens of “ah-ha!” moments you’re going to have as you enjoy reading this well written and blissfully brief guide to HOA management.

Thank you Derek for putting this together, I’m sure it’s helping a lot of people get a better experience from their HOA.
